Cheryl A. Brown is a native New Yorker and has lived in various states along the east coast including New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. Ms. Brown earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.
She is dedicated to not-for-profit management, funding sustainability, and strategic organizational initiatives. From board and community liaison to balancing the “mission over margin” philosophy. Her style is comfortable, yet production and goal oriented.
Her career as a seasoned professional fundraiser has enabled her to work in the fields of higher education, health care, for nationally recognized not-for-profits, public libraries, community foundations, and grass root community organizations. She has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of fundraising and organizational development.
Some of the successful initiatives she has lead include:
- Starting development offices from the ground up
- Forming foundations
- Writing and managing grants ranging from $1,000 – $3,000,000
- Designing and successfully executing capital campaigns
- Developing and executing mission driven fundraisers
- Facilitating strategic planning sessions
- Developing strategic plans and writing policies and procedures
- Individualized Program and Project development
She is dedicated to the ethical standards of fundraising, and practices the donor bill of rights unequivocally. Her cultivation and stewardship skills speak for themselves. Her special event planning and execution is second to none. She is self-motivated, a quick study, creative, dedicated and passionate about not-for-profit organizations and the communities they serve.
In her spare time she cooks, bakes, is an avid walker and enjoys gardening. She has served on the boards of several not-for-profit organizations and has been published in Advancing Philanthropy through the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
